THE
There is no time limit. A pair is finished when it is right, and not before.
Made by Hand, in Milan
Every pair is made in Milan, entirely by hand. The last is shaped, the leather cut and closed over it, the natural stones cut and set one at a time, the embroidery worked thread by thread, the heel fixed and finished. Each pair passes through several hands, and every one of them answers for its part. The hands that do this have done it for a lifetime, some of them since childhood.
The Materials
The leathers and the fabrics are the finest the house can source, and some are made for it alone. The stones are natural, each one cut by hand before it is set. Materials of this order do not behave predictably and cannot be hurried. They set the pace of the work, and the work follows.
Every stone is natural, cut by hand, one at a time.
Instruments Made for the Purpose
Some of these pieces could not be made with the tools a workshop keeps. So the tools were made first, built by hand for a single style, before the shoe itself could begin. The heel was re-engineered for stability underfoot. The embroidery is worked in three dimensions, prototyped and re-prototyped until it falls exactly where the design requires.
A pair can take more than thirty hours. Few can be made this way, and so few are.
